The inshore roosterfish bite had been slow all morning so we decided to fish the end of the outgoing tide in the mouth of the Savegre River and see if we could make some dinner.
We had a few goggle eyes that I had caught in the morning and we got to casting then right into the breakers in the rivermouth.
We hooked a small snook right away and jumped him right off and then missed a few more bites. It wasn't until the drift on our last shot into the river mouth had come to an end and I announced to "bring 'em up" when our pal's line cane tight and then starting peeling from his reel.
It was some time before the Fat Snook could lift his head to shake it as he was just too bulky to jump. The fish ran up the beach and then back down and up into the river mouth until it looked like he might spool us and then he weakened and we were able to bring him to the boat where we were sitting just outside of the breakers.
